Programs and Outings

The Eva Sophia Project organizes and conducts programs and outings to help people with DD develop and improve independent living skills, enhance social skills, and foster friendships. The plan includes offering informational workshops that help inform and educate families of people with DD about long-term planning options and resources for their sons and daughters.

Population Served

The Eva Sophia Project is more than a nonprofit; it is a movement to redefine what adulthood can look like for individuals with developmental disabilities. Eva Sophia Project serves adults ages 18 and older who have an intellectual or developmental disability. The expectation is a range of abilities, support needs, and mobilities.

The Lakehouse
Community Center

The Lakehouse Community Center is the heart of the mission - as a lasting place of belonging for individuals and peace of mind for families. The Lakehouse will serve as a venue for programs, classes, events, communal dining, and social gatherings for members of the greater community, particularly other nonprofits, agencies, advocacy groups, and schools that serve and support adults with DD and their families. It also will serve as a base for Eva Sophia Project programs and outings and for the community residents in the future.

Residential Community

Future plans include thoughtfully designed housing options. The vision is a residential community of standalone market-rate for-sale cottages with multiple bedroom options, oriented facing into a central greenspace. It will be a community designed around people, not cars, that encourages social interaction, friendship, exercise and wellbeing. Families and adults with DD who own 2- or 3-bedroom homes may choose to rent spare bedrooms to roommates they choose. The plan also includes some rental units above The Lakehouse Community Center.
